Liturgy of the Passion
March 28, 2021
Isaiah 50:4-9a
Psalm 31:9-16
Philippians 2:5-11
Mark 14:1-15:47 or
Mark 15:1-39, (40-47)
Our gracious, eternal God, we bow in awe as we acknowledge your powerful presence throughout our human history. As with your people through the ages we ask for your power and influence in our lives.
Be the source of our strength when we are weak.
Be the solid rock beneath our feet when we wander or waver.
Be our shield and wrap your protective arm around us when we are in danger.
Be the truth that challenges our minds and stretches us to a greater depth of awareness and understanding.
Be the inspiration of our hearts when life is drab and dreary.
Be the comfort for our souls when life is harsh.
Be our guide when we are walking through the valley of decision.
We thank you on this day for your holy one, Jesus. As he set his face toward Jerusalem so help us to set our faces toward our mission and calling. May we listen to his words. May we listen to the better angels of our own selves which he empowers. May we learn to trust more deeply. May we learn to love more fully and be committed to the service of others. May we learn greater mastery in our Christian walk.
Be with those among us with special needs and look upon them with your favour. For those living with the emptiness of grief we ask your loving companionship. Be with those facing changes in their lives because of diminished health. Be with our world which is daily punctuated with strife and conflict and bring greater peace and justice to the earth. Amen
